Who are we?
The Mayor of London is passionate about young Londoners getting the support they need to fulfil their potential. London and Londoners are facing many challenges to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. In launching this challenge in partnership with George Clarke’s educational charity MOBIE, the Mayor hopes to help young people develop new skills and inspire more of them to join our world-leading built environment sector to face some of these challenges head-on.
Architect and TV presenter George Clarke founded MOBIE in 2017 to inspire young people to revolutionise the way we think about homes. We need younger generations to define how they want to live now and in the future, and MOBIE helps them to do that by setting design challenges like this one.
In this article, MOBIE's CEO Mark Southgate sets out the challenges the construction industry faces and how they will affect future homes.
How are we supporting you with digital skills?
There are many ways to create digital plans and drawings. We have focused on providing two options for the design challenge.

ArcGIS - we have worked with ESRI to put together a teaching guide and resources that can be used.
SketchUp - we have worked with Trimble to provide training for your teachers to help you with this software. There will be a series of webinars published throughout the challenge to help you and your teachers.
How will the entries be judged?
The entries will be judged after the final deadline on Friday 6 May 2022.
There will be a panel of high-profile judges helping the Mayor of London and George Clarke decide on one winner and one runner-up for each age category.
How will the winners be announced?
We are still working on details but we will be organising an event for the winners and runners-up in due course.
Is there a prize for students?
Yes, there is a prize!

I am a mature student, can I still enter?
Make sure you check the terms and conditions of entry in the document library below. As long as you are currently studying at a university or college, you are eligible for entry at that level.
