What are deliberative events?

One of the Mayor’s key objectives is to encourage early and inclusive engagement with stakeholders, including local communities, in planning.

As part of this, 160 participants came together over 4 days to explore the challenges facing London. Participants were invited to attend, and the group of 40 participants on each day were representative of London’s diverse communities. The purpose was to understand the breadth of views not to reach consensus or talk specifically about the London Plan.

Sensorium

For each event, participants were able to review information about the subject, referred to as a ‘Sensiorium’. This helped build understanding of the issues and challenges.

Zones

They then moved around five zones, participating in discussions and activities in each zone. You can view the Sensiorium information, discussion guides and zone material below for each event on this page.

Event 1 A green and fair economy

Friday 9 December 2022

This event discussed how and where London’s businesses should start, grow and create jobs; how to support high streets and town centres; how we upgrade London’s existing homes and make new buildings to be greener; and what the impacts of large-scale redevelopment on existing businesses are.
